1. Focus on The Solution:
 If something is going wrong, it’s normal to focus on the problem. Running the situation over and over in your mind like a video on auto-replay, again and again – and does does not help. Redirect a your energy to the solution: focus on what you are going to do now. You can´t change what has happened, stop burning energy and look forward.

2. What’s the Lesson? 
Whenever something good happens, it is easy for us to see the lesson or the gift, or not even think about it. When something bad happens to us, we often only see the bad. Train your mind to look at the experience as feedback and readjust your course and try to see the opportunity.

3. Question your Thoughts:
 Your thoughts and beliefs are made up of all your experiences, relationships with family, friends and partners, everything you have seen and heard. They are not facts about the world. Be aware of your thoughts and if they are not serving you: ditch them! Ask yourself different questions, for example instead of thinking, I don´t have money, I can never afford that, ask yourself “how can I find a way to afford that?” Take responsibility your thoughts and choose those that serve you.

4. Focus on Joy:
 Being positive has a big effect on your day-to-day life: you attract positive experiences, feelings and interactions. Intentionally choosing to be joyful will have a profound effect on your days.

5. Take Responsibility:
 Your actions and behavior are your responsibility. Avoid looking at other people, pointing fingers: you just need to take responsibility for who you are, not the way anybody else is. The more you take responsibility for your life, actions and behaviors, the more you will be able to change it. Responsibility is freedom and empowerment.

6. Love Yourself:
 If you don’t, how can anyone love you? You are an accumulation of the past – this is not who you truly are forever. Nobody is perfect, ever, so don’t hold ideas that you need to match up anyone else. We all possess the same qualities, perhaps in different quantities. Start respecting yourself and you will feel a big shift in your daily emotions and feelings.

7. Forgive:
 Forgiveness of others and yourself can be said as the ultimate mind-body-soul detox. Freeing you from negative and damaging emotions, forgiveness stops the energy drain of resentment and guilt, shame and undeserving. Forgiveness is powerful gift you can give yourself and others.

8. Nourish Yourself: 
Often, the importance of health is not fully understood until it is too late, until we have a life-threatening disease or condition. Eating a little healthier every day and

moving your body in some way will make you feel vibrant, alive, more revitalized and ready to take on the world. Your body is a precious ecosystem: make sure it gets what it needs to survive, including sleep. Lack of sleep leads to irritability, lack of energy, negativity and anxiety.

9. Foster Your Passion:
 We all have a passion. Some just may not know what exactly it is, but hints soon appear and literally lights you up. If you cannot live from your passion, try at least to incorporate into in your life. Painting, riding, going for walks in nature… whatever it is. If you really don´t know, a professional can help you to get clear on your passions.

10. Make a Life List:
 Write down the things you would like to do in your life before you die. From the little things to the big things. Try to do at least one of those things even every few months, but even the list alone will move you in its direction! By doing things that we love, we feel more alive, vibrant and we enjoy life much more.

11. Be Present:
 Where are your thoughts? Past thoughts are normally associated with feelings of regret, shame and frustration. Thoughts in the future can be related to feelings of anxiety, apprehension or stress. Bring yourself into the present, enjoy each moment without the baggage of the future or present. The famous saying says it all… Past is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called present.

12. Gratitude:
 When you wake up or go to sleep and especially when you feel bad, remind yourself of all your blessings. Feeling grateful puts you into a state of happiness that automatically lifts your emotions. The more you value and appreciate something, the more there will be to value and appreciate.

  • The first thing you want to look at is any areas where you could save time by rearranging or repositioning any of your work items. One example of this would be moving your file cabinet closer to your desk, or even moving the coffee maker within an arm’s reach if you spend a lot of time going back and forth getting coffee. It’s amazing how much time can be added to your day just by moving a few things in more convenient and easily accessible areas. Once you have everything set up for fast access, you will have more time to work with regarding your work schedule.
  • One of the best things you can do with regards to organizing your work schedule is to be sure you are setting yourself up for success and not failure. You can do this by making a realistic list of the things you need to accomplish and list them in an order which allows you to complete the simplest ones first. This way, you will get down your list faster and even if you can’t finish the last thing on your list, at least all the others will be done.
  • Pay attention to the times of the day where everything slows down a bit. If you are able to, you should try to schedule any breaks or your lunch period during the slow times. This will help you to be more productive during your work day.
  • You should try to organize your work schedule in a manner which makes your work tasks flow so you can move from one to the other with ease. An example of this would be taking care of all your desk tasks first, and then move on to the other tasks which have you away from your desk. This way, you aren’t wasting time going back and forth from area to area. Plus, it makes it easier for you to mentally stay focused and this means getting your tasks done easier and with less effort.
  • If you are able to make your own work schedule you should make it so it fits easily into your lifestyle. Also, you may want to leave yourself a weekday free so you can schedule all your non-work related tasks on that day. This way, doctor’s appointments, banking, and other tasks won’t take time away from your work and require you to miss any hours. By organizing your work schedule correctly you will see you feel less stress and have more time for yourself.

The Fire

In the Pomodoro Technique, your deliverables are broken down to basic units of work and there are 5 steps:

  • Choose a task to be accomplished

  • Every 4 rounds take a longer break

Most people are ok with this because they convince themselves that they are multitasking. Each time the brain switches between one task to the other, you end up losing a little bit of time and this can start adding up really fast.

So learn to turn the internet off. If you are doing something that can be done offline then disconnect from the internet. 5 Ways to Bomb Your Marriage

You try getting your partner to do things. You wish your partner would just know what you wanted. You’ve thrown tantrums, shot poison darts, needled, and lobbed anger bombs. You may have even given up altogether. If you’re one of the millions of busy entrepreneurs struggling with their marriages, it might be time to change tactics.

Terrence Real has been helping couples for nearly 30 years developing solidly scientific theories about what makes relationships succeed or fail. He has identified five losing strategies which are guaranteed to sabotage your most intimate relationships.

I’ve seen these lizard-level attempts at intimacy in my own relationships, and those of my clients, so I thought I’d shed some light on them in the hope they’ll scurry away.

Here’s how to sabotage your relationship:

1. Be Right. Also known as “The Lawyer”: you need to start keeping better records, do a better job of writing things down, or you Google the facts to prove your point: you’re acting the part of the Lawyer.

Underneath the Lawyer, there is a usually legitimate request: and the antidote for the Lawyer is to ask for what you want. (ie. Please slow down. Would you mind cleaning the kitchen?)

2. Have Control. You wish you had superpowers and could magically make your partner do what you want. You find yourself reading books with titles like “Get Anyone to Do Anything?”. You think that real life will start when your plan works and your spouse finally changes.

This is controlling your partner. You are controlling your partner when you start thinking that if you chant, pray, wish, meditate enough, your partner will change. You are a magician!

Guess what? You can only create your own character, not your spouse’s. It’s not “How can I get ’em to change?” but “Is there anything I can change so I can be happy now?” Work your magic on yourself, not on your partner.

3. Emotionally Vomit.  You write long letters to your spouse about exactly what is wrong with them and the relationship. You deliver a twenty minute lecture about how they’ve hurt you. You vent to your partner, and lay it all out there.

If an argument with your spouse is explosive and dramatic, and afterwards you get a huge feeling of relief, you may have just emotionally vomited all over your marriage.

Constructive self-expression can be very useful in relationships, but we don’t need to express ourselves to the point where we draw a crowd. Express yourself with care.

4. Practice the Art of War. It’s your job to take the trash out, but he worked through dinner, so you just leave it there to stink. Leaving after a fight, you lock him out of the house. Real says the fourth losing strategy is “Retaliation,” taking revenge on our partners, either aggressively or passively.

If you find yourself getting a thrill out of the mean-spirited banter that goes on at your house, you might be engaged in retaliation. As intimate partners, we have access to all the buttons, and we know how to push them.

The way to repair and reconciliation not through petty revenge: Be a lover, not a hater.

5. Give Up. You take your ball and go home. With the help of some choice substances, you go comfortably numb. You go into your cave to hibernate. You’re sleepwalking through your marriage.

If you find yourself spending more and more time at work, just so you can avoid the headaches at home, you might be engaged in what Real calls the fifth losing strategy, “Withdrawal.”

What is ironic is that Withdrawal is actually a close cousin of a winning strategy: Acceptance. Both of these strategies involve taking some distance, but they have very different qualities: resentful and bitter, hurt, angry and self-righteous versus loving and kind, calm, peaceful and centered. In Acceptance, you recognize you cannot change your partner, but you can change the way you relate to your partner. It’s called a relationship reckoning: Acceptance and True Love.

The difficulties involved in maintaining modern intimate relationships can seem overwhelming—especially if all we do is argue over facts, throw rocks, or withhold sex in a vain attempt to change our partners.
